Palestine and Statehood

In today's 'Middle East Analysis', we look at Israel/Palestine with the latter's quest for statehood the subject of a non-binding vote in the UK parliament on Monday, 13 October. As the dust settles on the largely symbolic vote that saw MPs back Palestinian statehood alongside Israel by 274 to 12, Bishops' consultant on the Middle East, Dr Harry Hagopian, sees the recognition of Palestine as a state as a significant step towards peace in the region.
