Catholic Internships

14/12/2011 8:30 am

Houses of Parliament from Lambeth Bridge

The Catholic Parliamentary and Public Policy Internships scheme has been running for nearly a decade placing Catholic graduates in an environment where they gain an intensive experience of political and social action in a spiritual context.

Five interns will be placed with Christian MPs and Peers at Westminster and there are two joint internships combining public policy work in CAFOD, the Church's official aid and development charity, and the CARITAS Social Action Network.

The Diocese of Westminster also has a place for an intern to work in the Public Affairs Office, Archbishop's House.

All internships will run from September 2012 - July 2013 and include accommodation and subsistence allowances.

In addition to educational work experience all internships also involve:

  • Individually guided retreats and spiritual guidance throughout the year
  • Studying Christian ethics and Catholic social teaching at Heythrop College
  • Exploring the political landscape and the Church’s involvement in social action through a series of events

If you're a current final year undergraduate or recent graduate, a committed Catholic* with outstanding academic credentials, excellent communication skills, engaged in social action and serious about discerning a vocation to politics or public life we would like to hear from you.
