Growing Economic Inequality and Taxation

10/02/2016 12:00 pm

On Ash Wednesday at the start of our Lenten journey, the Conference of Justice and Peace Commissions (Justice and Peace Europe) officially launched its annual Concerted Action 2016 with the publication of a Basic Text on the theme “Growing Economic Inequality and Taxation – A Challenge for Europe and the World”.

In the UK the issue of taxation has attracted huge media interest and Members of Parliament are currently scrutinising the tax affairs of large multinational companies including Google the internet company that we all use.

Catholics in England and Wales are equally interested in fairer taxation and in an economy that works for all of us. The Basic Text and Background material prepared by Justice and Peace Europe provides suggestions on how you can support the current political momentum for a fairer tax system. The material can be used in our parish communities, schools, work places or shared with our networks and politicians.
