Cardinal speaks about Conclave to elect next Pope

26/02/2013 3:50 pm

His Eminence Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor spoke to the assembled media today about the process of electing a new Pope for the Catholic Church.

The Cardinal, who will not vote in the 2013 conclave because he is 80-years-old, gave a press conference at the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales sharing his memories of the 2005 Papal Conclave that elected Pope Benedict XVI, his recollections of the historic State Visit made by the Holy Father to the UK in 2010 and looked to his imminent visit to Rome to take part in the pre-conclave meetings of cardinals.

These ‘general congregation’ meetings will look at the future of the Catholic Church, and the qualities needed in the future pope.
