Message to His Grace Bishop Angaleos, General Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Great Britain from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales on the occasion of the election of Bishop Tawadros as the 118th Coptic Orthodox Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa
 
On behalf of Archbishop Vincent Nichols, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, Archbishop Bernard Longley, Co‐Chairman of the Catholic Oriental Orthodox Forum, and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, I send you warm and fraternal greetings on learning the news of the election of Bishop Tawadros as the new Coptic Orthodox Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa.
 
The Catholic Bishops greet with joy and thanksgiving this great news. Please convey to Bishop Tawadros the assurance of the prayers of all the Bishops and faithful of the Catholic Church in this country for him as he prepares to take up his leadership of the Coptic Orthodox Church throughout the world.
 
May the intercession of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of our Saviour Jesus Christ and the intercession of Holy Apostle St Mark, invoke the abundant blessings of Almighty God on Bishop Tawadros and all the Coptic Orthodox faithful.
