The Archbishop Emeritus of Westminster, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor was the guest speaker at the Maynooth Union Celebrations on Tuesday 15 June 2010. The address was written and the invitation extended prior to his appointment by the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI as the apostolic visitor for the Archdiocese of Armagh.

Archbishop Peter Smith installed as Archbishop of Southwark

The Most Reverend Peter Smith, formerly Archbishop of Cardiff, has been installed as the Archbishop of Southwark. The Mass and Installation took place at St George’s Cathedral, Southwark on 10 June 2010. The Installation marks a return home for Archbishop Peter, who was born in Battersea and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese in1972.

The Catholic Education Service for England and Wales (CESEW) welcomes the attention given by Ofsted to Religious Education in its recent report. Whilst the findings do not apply to Catholic schools which, with their voluntary aided character, are inspected and reported upon under separate arrangements, the report is still a very significant one for us.
