Archbishop Bernard Longley on the different realities of God's mercy in the world

13/12/2015 6:44 am

Advent reaches the halfway mark and for the third Sunday, we hear from the Archbishop of Birmingham.

Archbishop Bernard Longley offers his Advent reflection on the realities of God's mercy in the world that has arisen from the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Ministering in a city that is a confluence of religions, Archbishop Longley takes particular interest in the experiences of mercy in other faith communities and religious groups.

"Pope Francis' emphasis on God's mercy being prevalent within the world and that we, as Christians, should enable people to experience it, is also an encouragement to us to make contact with other people of faith to find out what they understand about the merciful love of God within the world."

Podcast Series

The Year of Mercy, given to us by Pope Francis, presents the ideal opportunity to focus on God's mercy and forgiveness.

To mark this, many of the Bishops of England and Wales have recorded special reflections for Advent. One podcast reflection will be uploaded every day throughout the season.
