The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. According to an account by fifteenth-century Dominican, Alan de la Roch, Mary appeared to St. Dominic in 1206 after he had been praying and doing severe penances because of his lack of success in combating the Albigensian heresy.

Mission Rosary

As followers of Christ we are all called to be missionaries – bringing Christ's message to the whole world. One of the tools we can use to help us pray for worldwide mission is the Mission Rosary.  The Mission Rosary enables our prayer to reach beyond the boundaries of our local concerns and to be united with the entire Church.

How to say the Rosary

Please see: newadvent.org/images/rosary.pdf

Beginners may choose to say one decade only each day, spending extra time to reflect on the theme of the decade (covered by the ten beads). The number of prayers said is not so important as the quality of prayer said, which refers to the sincere and heartfelt lifting of our hearts and minds to God in a moment of time. That time might be five minutes or could be twenty.

Where can I get a pair of rosary beads?

Your local church may well have a little stall or shop, sometimes called a repository, which sells rosary beads. Some areas also have a local Christian shop in their town or city that similarly may have them in stock. There is a network of Catholic outlets that sell rosary. Some of them include:

If you’re not sure where to start please don’t hesitate to contact your local Catholic parish to ask for help.
