January 2013 - Home Mission Network Forums

Across England and Wales there are formal and informal networks of people who are working tirelessly in support of evangelisation. The Year of Faith presents everyone with a wonderful opportunity to be renewed, affirmed and strengthened in his or her efforts to proclaim the Gospel message. To that end, two events have been organised, hosted by Sion Community for Evangelism in Brentwood, offered in partnership with the Bishops’ Department for Evangelisation and Catechesis.

The purpose of the gatherings is three-fold, aiming to provide a unique space for people engaged in home mission to:

1. Connect with each other to share experiences and ideas;
2. Be renewed through times of prayer and reflection;
3. Be enthused to take new steps, as co-workers, in support of the new evangelisation in their parish and diocese.

The first gathering, 22 – 23 January, is for priests and deacons and will be attended by Bishop Thomas McMahon (Brentwood). The second gathering, 26 – 27 January, is for lay people and will be attended by Bishop Seamus Cunningham (Hexham and Newcastle). The cost is £95 which includes all meals and accommodation. Everyone is welcome to attend but booking is essential. If you're interested in and / or are already involved in evangelisation in your local area, please do consider coming along.

Cardiff Diocese: We believe in One Church of Christ

How does the Catholic Church see itself in relation to other denominations? How can and should we work together? Why has the Church treated other Christians in history both as dangerous heretics and as long-lost brothers and sisters?

Each talk is given twice, at 1.45 pm and 7.00 pm

Location: St John Lloyd Church, Glan-Y-Mor Road, Rumney, CARDIFF CF3 1RQ.
