Advent Calendar

3 December

Patron Saint of Migrants

The Lord draws all the nations together into the eternal peace of God's kingdom Isaiah 2:1–5

Throughout Advent and Christmas we are asked to remember and pray especially for migrants and refugees.

Love the stranger,
for you were strangers
in the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 10:19

your Son gave his life
to gather together
your scattered children
into one family:
may we show your loving care
to all who are forced
to leave their homes
and their homeland.
 cf. Roman Missal (RM) 836

Lord, no one is a stranger to you
and no one is ever
far from your loving care.
In your kindness watch over
refugees and exiles,
those separated from their loved ones,
young people who are lost,
and those who have left
or run away from home.
Bring them back safely
to the place where they long to be
and help us always
to show your kindness
to strangers and those in need.
