Your view of Young People Today

If you are a parent, teacher, chaplain, youth worker or ordained minister in the Catholic Church who regularly who cares for or works with young people aged between 13 and 29 years old, the Bishops Conference of England and Wales would like to hear about your view of young people, their faith and how you help them to hear God's call.

What is a Synod?

Every few years, the Pope invites Bishops from around the world, and other advisors, to meet with him to discuss an important topic in the life of the Church. This group of people is called a Synod and their gathering is called a General Assembly. In 2018, the General Assembly of the Synod will focus on the theme "Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment".
The preparatory document for the Synod provides an inspiring context for the General Assembly as it challenges the Church to listen, accompany and help young people hear God’s call. We have also produced a booklet called Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment based on this document for young people. Copies of this book are available from Alive Publishing.

The Home Mission Office is coordinating this consultation process in collaboration with The National Office for Vocation, The Catholic Youth Ministry Federation and the Department for Education to ensure your voice is heard. It is our hope that this consultation will lead to a variety of opportunities to talk with young people about their lives, faith and vocational discernment.

Please do take the time to complete this survey and encourage others to do the same because your view matters.
